Ronald Sandack graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1986. In 1989, Mr. Sandack received his law degree from DePaul University College of Law. Thereafter, he joined the firm of Smith, Williams & Lodge where his practice concentrated on representing banks and other financial institutions, particularly with respect to distressed credits. In 1996, Mr. Sandack became associated with the firm of Lowis & Gellen and became a partner in 1999. Mr. Sandack joined the firm of Levenfeld Pearlstein in 2002 as a partner in both the Litigation and the Finance and Banking Service areas. He left Levenfeld Pearlstein in December of 2003 at which time he became affiliated with Gaido & Fintzen.
Mr. Sandack has a business litigation and business transactional practice. Mr. Sandack’s business litigation practice centers on the representation of small and medium size companies involved in civil actions with a focus upon emergency equitable remedies, such as injunctions, in order to foster clients’ opportunities to pursue their business plans in a fair and competitive environment. Mr. Sandack has been involved in litigation pursuing and defending emergency injunctive relief regarding restrictive covenants to protect trade secrets, goodwill and business relationships; corporate and other business disputes involving shareholders and other owner’s actions with respect to corporate control and succession for privately held companies; and numerous employment litigation matters.
Mr. Sandack also has a business transactional practice, which involves creditors’ rights, bankruptcies and workouts, representing prominent banks and financial institutions. Mr. Sandack negotiates and drafts the full complement of documents which accompany such commercial transactions—loan agreements, notes, guarantees, mortgages, pledges, assignments and the like. He assists lenders in structuring credit facilities for manufacturers, distributors, retailers, developers and service companies. Additionally, Mr. Sandack, on behalf of his corporate clientele, documents asset and sales agreements, vendor agreements, distribution agreements and other contracts.
Mr. Sandack has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Illinois Appellate Court. Throughout his career, Mr. Sandack has tried numerous jury and bench cases to verdict. Mr. Sandack is also a chair-qualified arbitrator with the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Committee and has taken several courses at The John Marshall Law School’s real estate L.L.M. program.
In November 2010, Mr. Sandack was sworn in as State Senator for the
21st district. After the 2012 election and accompanying new legislative
maps, Mr. Sandack was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives
for the 81st District. Mr. Sandack, his wife, and their two children
reside in Downers Grove, where, prior to being appointed to the State
Senate, he served as the Mayor. Mr. Sandack also serves as an ex officio
Board Member on the Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce, the Downers Grove
Economic Development Corporation, and is active in several other civic
and charitable organizations.
